This summer I was having problems with my bike getting hot and then I changed my Oil temp gage and since then I haven't had that problem. I do ride at least twice a week still even though it is cold (to me) in the mornings. It is down into the 50's in the early mornings, but it still is a nice ride.

I LOVED the Rider's Edge Course. I thought it was a good course and well worth the money. It made me more confortable on my bike. I now ride at least twice a week and will be increasing that as I get space on my bike to carry things. Right now I have to depend on my husband to carry my stuff.

hello, I live in the Mineral, Va area.. My girlfriend and I have our own bikes and we belong to the Southeren Crusier in Mineral Chapter 442.

I can imagine!... here it gets down into the 30's or lower in the winter so riding is impossible, but riding in 120 degree weather does not sound like a picnic either, if you didn't overheat your bike definitely would!

Hi Arlene! Welcome to LRO. You're lucky out there in Vegas... the only people who go riding in the winter in IL are the crazy people who do a Toys for Tots benefit ride at the end of November... good-hearted yes... but also a bit insane... I suppose they might have heated gear or something.

What did you think of the Rider's Edge course? At the dealership I work at, we are working on starting a new riding school because our contract expired for our old one, and I wanted to know people's opinions of other programs... I took our old course and from what I've been told, it's not much like Rider's Edge at all! Just curious!

I get to ride pretty much year round (Thank God). It's cold in the mornings here (not like there in IL), but we just put on heavier clothing and ride. It's great that it's not 120 any more. That's when I can't ride.

New to the site

Hi my name is Arlene. I learned how to ride dirt bikes summer of 2006 and from that point on I was hooked. I had a 94 Sporty Hugger in my garage (it was my husbands until he got his 2005 Electra Glide) so I went down and got my Permitt. I've been riding for a year now. I just took the Riders Course (at Harley) in September and got my license. I ride as often as I can. Thank God that winters don't get too bad here, I can ride year round. I do all of my own maintance on my bike, so this place will be really helpful.

Went riding today (10-7) We started in the QC area of Illinois and headed North to Galena. Just a great day to be out. We stopped at a biker bar called Poopy's in Savanna, IL and the Iron Horse Social Club also in Savanna. Then headed up Route 84 to Galena.

Has anyone had the chance to go riding since the weather started changing? It's been a little cold around here! Plus there's been a lot of rain... it can't be the end of the season yet, it seems like it just started!!

Ladies... So You Wanna Ride?

Hi ladies,

Just so you're aware, there is an event at Woodstock Harley-Davidson in Illinois on October 20th. It's geared towards women who are interested in riding or who have just started riding! There will be a general introduction to motorcycles, especially the Harley family of bikes, basic controls, maintenance, and information on customization options on how to fit a bike to your specific needs. We'll also talk about riding classes and how to get your license.

The event is at noon and a light lunch and refreshments will be provided, along with some goodies for people who participate in the quiz session afterwards!
